Coverage
Where we work across central New Jersey.
J Brothers Flooring is based in Middlesex, New Jersey and works across five counties in the centre of the state. We are a family-run installer, not a national chain, which means there is a limit to how far we travel and a benefit to that: we know the housing stock in the towns we cover.
Knowing an area is not a marketing line in this trade. Whether a neighbourhood is slab-on-grade or has wood subfloors, whether the housing is pre-war or development-era, and whether lower levels take water all change what we recommend before we have seen the room. That is the practical reason we work a defined area rather than the whole state.
Our home county. Edison and Piscataway are the two towns we work in most, both with substantial postwar housing, split-levels with below-grade family rooms, and a lot of original hardwood still sitting under carpet. Piscataway also has a large rental market around the Rutgers campuses, where the right specification is different from an owner-occupied home.
Bridgewater, Hillsborough, Somerville, Raritan and Bound Brook. This county is several different housing markets in one: development-era open-plan homes with finished basements in Bridgewater, newer builder-grade construction in Hillsborough, Victorian and pre-war housing in Somerville, and older properties near the river in Bound Brook where water history genuinely affects the material choice.
Union County runs from the dense older housing of Elizabeth out to the established suburbs of Westfield, Cranford and Summit. Mercer takes in historic Princeton and the townhome communities of East Windsor. Hunterdon is the most rural of the five, with older farmhouses, settled subfloors that usually need levelling, and well water that leaves mineral film on floors.
Solid and engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank and tile, laminate, carpet, ceramic and porcelain tile, plus hardwood refinishing and commercial flooring. Pricing is consistent across the whole service area, so a quote in Hunterdon uses the same rates as one in Edison.
No. Pricing is the same across our whole service area. What changes a quote is the material, the square footage and how much subfloor preparation the room needs, not your postcode.
Call and ask. We would rather tell you honestly that you are outside our range than take a job we cannot service properly afterwards.
Yes, in all five counties, including after-hours and weekend installation so occupied buildings do not have to close.
Most estimates are scheduled within a couple of days of your call. We measure, assess the subfloor, bring samples, and leave you with a written price rather than a verbal figure.
