What decides where you land in that range
Wear layer thickness is the single biggest factor and the one most often left out of a sales conversation. A 6 to 12 mil wear layer suits a bedroom. A 20 mil commercial-grade wear layer is what we recommend for kitchens, hallways and any home with dogs, and it is worth the difference. Core construction matters next: SPC is denser and resists denting, WPC is softer underfoot with slightly better sound absorption.

What installation includes
Removing and disposing of the old floor, moving furniture, subfloor flatness correction, underlayment where required, and cutting transitions and trim on site. Subfloor levelling is quoted separately when a room needs more than minor correction, because it varies enormously between houses.
Is it worth paying for the thicker wear layer?
In a kitchen, hallway, entry or a home with pets, yes, without much hesitation. The difference between a 6-mil and a 20-mil floor is roughly $2 per square foot up front and often a decade of service life. In a spare bedroom that sees light traffic, the thinner product is a perfectly sensible saving.

Is LVP really waterproof?
The plank is, yes. Rigid core LVP is impervious to water through its thickness. Worth being precise though: waterproof describes the plank, not the room. Standing water reaching the subfloor at the perimeter can still cause problems.
Can it go over existing tile or wood?
Often yes, if the surface is stable, clean and flat within tolerance. Deep grout lines need filling first or they telegraph through.
How long does it last?
With a good wear layer and normal residential use, fifteen to twenty-five years is realistic. Manufacturer warranties vary by product line.
Does it work in a basement?
Yes, and it is one of the main reasons people choose it. We test the slab for moisture first and use an appropriate underlayment.
